Summary
Brandon Latham is an experienced public servant, lifelong New Englander, and third-year law student at the University of New Hampshire and Vermont Law School. He has a wide range of experiences, but his studies have focused on media and the First Amendment, municipal and other government law, and environmental protection. Judicial Extern, January 2024 - Present
For the Spring semester of his 3L year, Brandon is completing a legal residency with a magistrate judge and their clerks in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire. He has closely observed prisoner/arrestee rights litigation and LASER, the alternate addiction recovery docket.

Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant, August 2022 - Present
Brandon is TA for Constitutional Law II (hybrid), and was TA for Constitutional Law II (residential), Legal Research and Information Literacy, and Fundamentals of Law Practice. Additionally, he works as a student assistant in the office of career services, conducting research regarding jobs in government service and hiring practices across the fifty states. He recently began serving as a research assistant to Assistant Dean Rebecca Purdom in her work to draft West's new environmental law textbook.

Legal Services Resident, August 2023 - December 2023
During his residency with NHMA, a voluntary membership organization representing all 234 of New Hampshire's towns and cities, he completed projects on the new office of the Right-to-Know Ombudsman's administrative rulemaking, the access of local lawmakers to the statewide political process, and recent court decisions of importance to town officials.
Local Leadership Network
Fundraising Director, December 2021 - December 2023
Local Leadership Network is a statewide non-profit organization with programming to equip grassroots organizers to have an impact in their region. Brandon worked on its finance education project "Fund the Fight," coaching volunteers on how to have successful fundraising drives, with teams raising anywhere from $19,000 to $47,000 during their ten weeks.
U.S. Attorney's Office - D. Mass.
Summer Legal Intern, May 2023 - August 2023
Brandon worked as an intern at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston with the Affirmative Civil Enforcement unit. Primarily researching procedural and evidentiary questions, executing document review, and supporting attorneys in pre-litigation, he worked on cases involving the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and Stark Law.
N.H. Campaign for Voting Rights
Legal Research Assistant, September 2022 - March 2023
As part of this non-partisan voter-protection team, he helped ensure safe, fair elections in New Hampshire, both in the federal midterm cycle and following municipal town-meeting cycle. He researched campaign issues, and he was part of a "war room" preparing volunteers and monitoring an election-day hotline for if problems arose.

Summer Law Clerk, May 2022 - August 2022
Working under the city attorney and deputy city solicitor, Brandon worked on a variety of municipal and constitutional law issues, including freedom of information, land use, taxation, and public utilities. He wrote a number of internal memoranda advising department heads across the city staff.
Town of Lexington
Public Administration Intern, May 2021 - September 2021
In the Summer before law school began, Brandon was selected for the Carl Valente Fellowship with the Town of Lexington, Massachusetts. In this role, Brandon got experience in three departments in town government: he worked on records archiving for the Town Clerk, completed a research project for the Town Manager's office, and oversaw publication of two texts for the Economic Development department.

At the Franklin Pierce Law Center, Brandon is completing his J.D. as well as a certificate in Health Law. He is a Dean's Scholarship recipient and the 2023 Martin Hurn Memorial Scholar. He is the two-time president of the Environmental Law Society and the founding chair of the Public Good Student Advisory Committee. Some of his electives include Ethics & Government Service, Immigration Law, State Constitutional Law, and Civil Rights Litigation.

Taking classes online during Summers and school breaks while working full-time internships, Brandon is pursuing a master's degree in Environmental Law and Policy. During this time, he wrote on many subjects, including zoning law in New Hampshire, master planning in coastal communities, and agricultural workers' health. He has been placed on the Dean's List both years and given an Academic Excellence Award, and represented online graduate students for one year in Student Bar Association student government.

While working as an academic advisor at SNHU, Brandon was able to take classes in the Organizational Leadership program, earning a graduate certificate in Human Resources Management. His courses included Leadership & Ethics and Leading and Managing Not-for-Profit Organizations.

Brandon earned his undergraduate degree in Journalism in seven semesters at American University in Washington, D.C., where he was a varsity athlete, served as editor for American Literary Magazine, and earned minors in Cinema Studies and International Studies. He tutored in the Writing Center and was a teaching assistant in the Literature department. During this time, he interned in the U.S. Senate, for Indiewire.com, and with the university's athletic department.
